Hello, I’m Eunice.
I was raised on a small organic tomato farm; located in a small town in South Korea, among tall trees, wild animals, and I grew up to racing the river stream and climbing trees. My father was very resourceful and sustainable man, and he had taught me to how to reconcile and reuse things before it’s thrown away. He repaired buttons, mended holes, added pockets if needed, hemed the leg up. And that was when I took my first interest in fashion.
I learned his creative and resourceful way to solve problems, and I grew up to a designer who can design in creative ways, and care for comfort and function. I believe in clothes that make wearer feel good and comfortable in it. My goal is to design and create clothes that supports people’s everyday life and make them feel good in sustainable way.
I studied fashion design in college, and my career as designer started in early 2019, started as intern at esby apparel. Working in esby apparel clarified my passion in clothes that meant to last for long periods of time. I always have been adamant about construction of the clothes since students. Clothes must be beautiful not just on the outside but inside as well. The construction of the clothes directly impacts the quality of the clothes, and I am passionate about the beauty of quality.
While working in esby apparel, I have grown as designer in many levels. I’ve always been sensitive to current trends, but throughout my career, I honed skills to translate the trends into designs following concept. Capturing colors from life and building cohesive color stories and concept is one of my strengths as designer.
With extensive knowledge of textiles; especially in woven, cut and sew knit, and denim, I bring the sketched vision to the life in the most effective way.
I love working with others, and appreciate different perspectives, so that we can grow together as team through feedback and creative conversations. I believe that we can evolve and find better ways when we share thoughts and understand each other.
Planning and prioritizing have been my forte since I was a student, as well as learning new technologies and software. I am always open to new ideas and ways to make better choices for the best results.
I have found myself with heart of an artist and brain of an accountant. I gained great understanding of realistic elements to create beautiful products and be able to achieve ideal design within the limited resources. And I it made me a better designer.
My passion is clothes that can be worn many times for long periods.
My inspiration comes from the life. Life of thriving nature, and life of people living and what they create in it. I look at the current trend through inspiration I get from the surrounding and translate it into design. I constantly research markets and trends to seek to find out new colors, silhouettes, fabrics, and techniques.
While my heart lays with timeless classic styles, I like to incorporate new trend elements and make the classic new.
Creativity takes big part of my soul. In free time, I spend my time tinkering and crafting. Painting, paper arts, needle felt, hand quilting, and more. I like to try and learn different forms of art and love to make it useful in my life. Most recent occupation of free time is leather crafting.
